Seacoast Bujinkan Dojo
Ninjutsu
predates the very name it is known by today. Most of the
old documents, scrolls, and historical records about
the art, indicate the origins of the art are to be found
in the mountainous Iga and Koga districts of Japan. Some
say that Ninjutsu existed in the Age of the Gods (before
recorded history). Others insist that Ninjutsu dates
from the Warring States period (14th to 16th
centuries) in Japanese history and was practiced with
other Bujutsu, or military skills. And still some say
that what would later be labeled as Ninjutsu, was a
collection of skills and philosophies fostered by
Religious and Military dissidents, seeking refuge in the
mountains.
Since it
is possible for ancient records to be matters of
interpretation and altered for various reasons, the true
history of the Shinobu-ho (art of stealth) remains
shrouded in mystery to this day.
Today, the
Bujinkan system is headed by Soke (grandmaster) Masaaki
Hatsumi who is the grandmaster of the nine ryuha, or
traditional schools that comprise the Bujinkan
tradition.
Training in Bujinkan Ninjutsu
and Budo Taijutsu is provided by Sensei Jeff Perry,
Shidoshi-ho and 2nd degree black belt. Mr. Perry has a
background as an instructor of Military and Law
Enforcement Combatives and Defensive Tactics and has
trained in other martial arts as well. Mr. Perry trains
under the guidance of Sensei Donal Morris and a variety
of other teachers and has been training in the art of
Ninjutsu since 1994.
The teaching format for
seminars and special sessions varies to meet the needs
of the participants. Regular classes cover a broad range
